Located at the intersection of 3 major thoroughfares bordering Washington, DC, The Blairs Apartments are high-rise residential towers orginally built in the 1960s. The buildings offer a mix of studios, efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments with below-grade parking available.
SIGAL performed phased renovations of both Blair East and Blair House. The work in Blair East included updating the apartments with new paint, cabinets, flooring, carpeting, hardware, and bathrooms. Renovations to the common areas included updates to the laundry rooms, fitness rooms, and lobbies. The building clubroom and associated outdoor areas were renovated and modernized.
All building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety) were demolished and replaced. This was done with minimal interruption of utility services to the occupants.
Blair House underwent minor improvements which were limited to the lobby rejuvenation and repairs which consisted of replacing existing fan coil units with vertical units, including new risers and loops. Both Blair East and Blair House underwent exterior renovations. The buildings required rehabilitation of the balconies with concrete repairs, composite metal panel divders, traffic coating, replacing doors, and new railings. Exterior spaces were provided with new landscaping, courtyards and canopies.
